College basketball best bets today
A new day beckons in college basketball, as 17 games are on the betting board. Only two of them feature major conferences, with the Big 12 and ACC represented and two additional games from the Big Sky are on the main board. The rest are “added board” games in the one-bid SWAC, MEAC, and Southland, making it a little tricky to find college basketball best bets today.
But, those who have been on the grind all season have familiarized themselves with these teams because that’s what Mondays have been about for a while now.

Idaho Vandals at Sacramento State Hornets (-4.5, 132)
9 p.m. ET
Idaho is in a bad situational spot tonight, as the Vandals run into the three games in five nights scheduling quirk of the Big Sky. It will also be their third straight road game, as they were in Missoula, then Bozeman, and now play in Sacramento. Given the ugly weather conditions and the season that the Hornets are having, I don’t see much of a home-court advantage and, to me, the Hornets’ only advantage is the scheduling.
They played Saturday and lost at Portland State, but they didn’t play on Thursday last week, so they have a rest advantage in some respects, but Idaho is the better team and I think this line being driven up due to the scheduling spot is a mistake. While I respect the notion, I don’t find Sac State worthy of being this big of a favorite.
Both teams have pretty similar shot selection at this point, but Idaho is a bit better at shooting 3s than Sac State. But, most importantly, the Hornets have turned it over on 23.2% of their possessions overall and over 20% here in Big Sky play. Meanwhile, Idaho takes better care of the basketball.
The Hornets are a better team on the glass, but it hasn’t helped them much and didn’t help them much in the first meeting, which Idaho won 61-58 at home, despite shooting 9-of-29 on 2s. I don’t see that happening again and Idaho actually runs about seven or eight deep and eight different guys played at least 14 minutes on Saturday, so the quick turnaround isn’t quite as bad for them as it could be for some teams.
