Evansville Aces vs. Quinnipiac Bobcats (-4, 155)
5:30 p.m. ET
The MAAC and the MVC meet in Daytona Beach in first-round action down in the CBI. Quinnipiac probably deserved a better fate in the best season that they’ve had in quite some time, as head coach Tom Pecora and the Bobcats are looking for their 25th win of the season. There should be a little extra-added incentive for Quinnipiac here going for a nice, round number in the win column.
Also, Quinnipiac has never won a postseason tournament game at the Division I level. They are 0-5 in the NIT (2010), CBI (2012), and CIT (2011, 2014, 2019). This Bobcats team already have the most wins in program history at the D-I level, which dates back to 1999. A postseason tourney win would be a nice feather in the cap of this program and obviously Pecora can coach, given that they’ve had back-to-back 20-win seasons for just the second time in program history.
They’re certainly a better team than Evansville as well, as the Bobcats ranked in the top 100 in eFG% defense and also shot better from 3. Evansville gives up a lot of 3-point attempts and ranked near the bottom 50 in 3P% defense. I also think Quinnipiac’s aggressiveness on the offensive glass will bring them some favor here.
This line actually opened -2 and has been steadily climbing and I agree with the line move.
