We’ve got one bowl game at Chase Field, where the weather is no issue, but there are some potential weather concerns in a few of today’s bowl matchups.
Birmingham Bowl – The matchup between Houston and Auburn, which looks like a low-scoring game in my estimation to begin with, features a chance of showers, but, more importantly, sustained winds in the 10-15 mph range and gusts in the 26-28 mph range during the game. The total is on the way down and some 49.5s are even out there now.

First Responder Bowl – It will be sunny in Dallas today, but winds could touch 20 mph with a good gust in the matchup with Louisville and Air Force. One team runs the triple-option and the other does not, so wind will only affect one of these two teams if the breezes get going.
Liberty Bowl – It looks like the worst of the winds will die down before the 5:45 p.m. CT local time kickoff of the Liberty Bowl between Texas Tech and Mississippi State. As two teams that like to throw the ball, the morning gusts up into the 30s would have presented a big problem. Keep an eye on this one, as any forecast change could have an impact, but the National Weather Service forecast shows the winds tapering off around 4 p.m. CT.
Holiday Bowl – There is a slight chance of showers in San Diego, but wind will not be a factor between NC State and UCLA.
Keep an eye out for late-breaking COVID news, as that could very well be a possibility in these and all remaining bowl games.
