Danish Golf Championship:

Frenchman David Ravetto earned his first professional victory on the Sunshine Tour in South Africa earlier this year. Last weekend, he won his first DP World Tour event at the Czech Masters by four strokes as a 250-1 shot.

This week, the DP World Tour heads to Denmark for the Danish Golf Championship, which has been known for the last three years as Made in HimmerLand.

To no surprise, two Danes are at the top of the odds board with twin brothers Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaard (both 12-1). Rasmus won this event at HimmerLand last year. Fellow Dane Thorbjørn Olesen (18-1) is not too far behind.

Austrian Bernd Wiesberger (14-1) is a two-time winner of this event albeit on different courses.

Tom McKibbin (18-1) and Richard Mansell (22-1) have both been fixtures on DP World Tour leaderboards throughout 2024.

The Course

A new course hosts this year’s event with the Lübker Golf Resort in Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city, taking over.

The Robert Trent Jones Jr. designs opened in 2008 as three sets of nine-hole layouts: Sand, Sky and Forest. This week’s layout combines the two nines that make up Sand and Sky.

The combined card adds up to a par-71 of 7,026 yards with the Sky 9 featuring more trees and water whereas the Sand 9 is a more exposed heathland. Bunkering is extensive on both nines, both flanking many of the fairways and protecting the bentgrass greens, which have many tricky undulations.

Here is the tournament scorecard from the DP World Tour site:

Selections

Thorbjørn Olesen (18-1, BetMGM)

There is always pressure for a home game, but Olesen could be up to the task here dropping down in class after playing predominantly stateside in 2024.

A winner earlier this year at Ras al Khaimah, Olesen ranks sixth on the DP World Tour for Strokes Gained: Total.

He also ranks top 10 on the DPWT for Strokes Gained: Putting, Strokes Gained: Around The Green and Scrambling.

Bernd Wiesberger (18-1, BetMGM)

Wiesberger ranks third on the DP World Tour for Strokes Gained: Tee-To-Green, Greens In Regulation, Scrambling and Strokes Gained: Around The Green.

Since returning full-time to the DP World Tour earlier this year, Wiesberger has three top-10s and has made 12 of 14 cuts.

Joe Dean (50-1, DraftKings)

Dean’s three top-5 finishes have secured his playing privileges for next season.

The former English Amateur winner is one of the better putters on the DPWT ranking eighth for Strokes Gained: Putting.

Adrien Saddier (55-1, BetMGM)

After three weeks off, Saddier finished third last week at the Czech Masters.

Shubhankar Sharma (60-1, Caesars Sportsbook)

Sharma ranks top 25 on the DPWT for Strokes Gained: Approach and Strokes Gained: Putting and has put together some good finishes lately with a top-5 in the Italian and a top 20 at the British Open.
