Monday NHL Best Bet, Sunday recaps
Sunday was another day visiting Flagstaff, Arizona, while also following an unbelievably busy sports betting day with just about every sport going with the exception of baseball (with spring training games right around the corner). Our regular daily recaps are below.
We lost our Best Bet of the day on Predators-Wild 1P Under 1.5 / Blues-Senators 1P Over -150 as the Predators-Wild played to a scoreless tie but the Senators only led the Blues 1-0 after the opening 20 minutes.
Unfortunately, I mistakenly listed the odds on the Predators-Wild bet at -135 when it should have been +115, so I apologize for confusing some readers (I think it was pretty clear with the stats I stated that I meant the Under, though I do wonder if any followers bet the Over 1.5 -135 and cashed; however, anyway you look at it that’s a 1-unit loss for our official daily plays here). I guess I’m so used to betting the 1P Overs at minus-money that I listed that instead. I also felt bad that I didn’t realize the error until right around the drop of the puck. I’m sure I would have caught it earlier if I was able to actually make the bet and saw the odds again, but I was tooling around northern Arizona in some areas with spotty Wi-Fi and I wasn’t able to sign up for any sports app in time to make the bet.
My family had a great day playing in the snow, etc., which was a treat for me and my desert kids, but I also lost my XFL bet on the Seattle Sea Dragons -1 in their 22-18 loss vs. the DC Defenders (we should have passed!). It looked like we were on the right side as Seattle led 18-8 but a pick-six started the Defenders’ rally (just like our Under 37 in the Vegas-Arlington game on Saturday was looking solid until not one but two pick-sixes). The Sea Dragons still had a chance for the win (and cover for early bettors) but fumbled at the goal-line in the closing seconds.
It was a frustrating start to the XFL season, but we feel we learned a lot and look forward to Week 2 and beyond

Sunday Recaps
NASCAR: Ricky Stenhouse Jr. won the Daytona 500 in double OT and the longest running of “The Great American Race” (212 laps) in the 65th running. The ViewFromVegas is he was in the middle of the odds pack around 40-1 as he won just his 3rd NASCAR Cup race and 1st since 2017.
PGA: Jon Rahm won the Genesis Invitational by 2 strokes over Max Homa as the 8-1 pre-tourney favorite. Rahm was 3-1 after Thursday’ first round, 5-2 after Friday’s second round and -300 after Saturday’s third round and heading into Sunday’s final round.
CBB: No. 2 Houston beat Memphis 72-64, but failed to cover as a 14-point home favorite. No. 3 Purdue routed Ohio State 82-55 and covered as a 12.5-point home fave. No. 23 North Carolina State beat North Carolina 77-69 and covered as 2-point home fave.
XFL: DC Defenders (+2.5) held off the Seattle Sea Dragons 22-18 Sunday night to wrap up Week 1 after opening as short home faves (went Over closing total of 38). Earlier, St. Louis Battlehawks (-2.5) beat San Antonio Brahmas 18-15 (stayed Under 37.5).
More XFL Week 1: Favorites went 3-1 SU but split 2-2 ATS with Vegas Vipers (+3.5) covering in 22-20 loss at the Arlington Renegades on Saturday. Home teams also went 3-1 SU but just 2-2 ATS with Vegas also being the difference with the cover as a road team. Overs went 3-1.
NHL: Faves went 4-2 Sunday with upsets by the Blackhawks (+265 in 5-3 win vs. the Maple Leafs) and Avalanche (-105 in 6-5 OT win vs. the Oilers). Home team went a perfect 6-0 Sunday as the 2 upsets were by the only 2 home underdogs. Overs 4-1-1 with push in WPG-NJ (6).
NBA: Team Giannis beat Team LeBron 184-175 on Sunday night in the NBA All-Star Game. Team Giannis did it as a 2.5-point underdog and +120 on the money line (flew Over the betting total of 323.5).
Monday NHL Best Bet
Flyers-Flames 1P Over -145/Kraken-Sharks 1P Over -145 (parlay payoff +185): The Flames have replaced the Ducks as the No. 2 1P Over team (and our most successful team lately) with 4 straight 1P Overs, 13-4 in their last 17 and 38-17 (69.2%) overall while the Flyers are also the No. 7 1P Over team. In the other game (being played at the same time at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT), the Kraken are the No. 5 1P Over team with the Sharks also in the Top 10 for a combined 66-47 (58.4%).
