Mr. Ed’s Breeders’ Cup Picks:

TRACKING MR. ED: Future Stars Friday, or Day 1 of the 2024 Breeders’ Cup Championships, produced some legitimate filly chalk with favorites Immersive and Lake Victoria. But, trainer Bob Baffert stole the show as his Citizen Bull captured the BC Juvenile (next year’s Derby horses) at 16-1. The BBC racing action resumes on Saturday with nine more contests, including the Breeders Cup Classic (Race 8 at 5:41 p.m. ET/2:41 p.m. PT). The greatest international day in horse racing, featuring nine Grade 1 stakes, goes to post at 1:05 p.m. ET/10:05 a.m. PT. Here are Mr. Ed’s exclusive Breeders’ Cup picks:

Mr. Ed’s Breeders’ Cup Picks for Saturday, November 2

Race 4 (3:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m. PT) — G1 $1 million BC FILLY & MARE SPRINT for 3YOs & up going 7 furlongs
Mr. Ed likes #7 ZEITLOS (6-1 morning line). First-class connections of all-time winningist trainer Steve Asmussen and jockey Jose Ortiz. Daughter of Curlin has won more than $1 million while competing against tough fields. Additional furlong enhances her prospects. Look for her in deep stretch.
BREEDERS’ CUP PICK: $10 to Win. ($10)

Race 5 (3:41 p.m. ET/12:41 p.m. PT) — G1 $1 million BC TURF SPRINT for 3YOs & up going 5 furlongs on turf
Mr. Ed can’t find a horse faster than #9 COGBURN (7-5 morning line), the best of the best international turf sprinters. Steve Asmussen trains and Irad Ortiz Jr. rides. Add all the speed figures up and 5YO dominates field.
BREEDERS’ CUP PICK: $20 to Win. ($20)

Race 6 (4:21 p.m. ET/1:21 p.m. PT) — G1 $2 million BC DISTAFF for fillies and mares going 1 ⅛-mile
Mr. Ed up is riding the filly he arrived with, #2 THORPEDO ANNA (4-5 morning line). She is so good, many view her as the best 3YO regardless of gender. She’s won for me before. She’ll win for me today. Kenny McPeek trains, and BJ Hernandez rides.
BREEDERS CUP PICK: $40 to Win. ($40)

Race 7 (5:01 p.m. ET/2:01 p.m. PT) — G1 $5 million BC TURF for 3YOs & up going 1 ½-mile on turf
Mr. Ed likes #3 SHAHRYAR (10-1 morning line). Japanese connections may not win all their races, but 6YO’s $10 million bankroll buys a lot of sushi. His second visit to the US adds to earnings.
BREEDERS CUP PICK: $10 to Win. ($10)

Race 8 (5:41 p.m. ET/2:41 p.m. PT) — G1 $7 million BC CLASSIC for 3YOs & Up going 1 ¼-mile
Mr. Ed’s top choice is #11 SIERRA LEONE (12-1 morning line) for the excellent pairing of Chad Brown and Flavien Prat. The horse is my pick based on his consistency. He’s compiled an outstanding record running against all comers. In doing so, he’s earned a sterling record and $2.3 million in earnings. Note: Mr. Ed’s comprehensive analysis of the BC CLASSIC appears in the VSiN BC Betting Guide.
BREEDERS’ CUP PICK: $20 to Win & Box in $5 Exacta with 1,3,9. ($50)
