The Triple Crown season is behind us, but Team Tuley continues to look for value from coast to coast.
This Saturday, we posted plays early this morning from Belmont Park in New York, Gulfstream Park in Florida and Santa Anita Park in California. Ed Sehon and John Lauro have two plays each from Belmont with Sehon adding a Late Pick 4 while yours truly has a play each from Gulfstream and Santa Anita. After scratches, Rampart race & sports manager Duane Colucci added his Pick 4s at Belmont and Santa Anita.
Good luck today (and every day!).
SATURDAY
Belmont Race No. 2 (1:31 p.m. ET/10:31 a.m. PT)
Ed Sehon likes #2 Royal Realm (6-1 morning line). “As trainer Jimmy Jerkens rebuilds barn with an emphasis on quality over quantity, this regally bred, expensive 3-year-old colt fits the bill perfectly. Following up his maiden score with a bullet workout, sophomore picks up services of journeyman jockey Jose Lezcano as he stretches out to 1 1/16th mile. A victory here positions Royal Realm well for summer season at Saratoga. Wager: Win and exacta box of 2,3 & 4.”
Belmont Race No. 5 (3:02 p.m. ET/12:02 p.m. PT)
Ed Sehon likes #6 Runaway Lute (6-1 morning line). “If odds hold up, this 7-year-old hard-charging winner of nearly $388,783 is my value play of the day. Under-rated jock David Cohen returns to New York circuit to ride for trainer Patrick Reynolds in $12,500 six-furlong claiming contest. Winner of 4-of-9 at Belmont, he’s the horse-for-the-course. I’m looking for him to run away from favorite Combination in stretch. Wager: Win & Place.”
Belmont Race No. 6 (3:34 p.m. ET/12:34 p.m. PT)
John Lauro likes #10 Ava’s Grace (5-2 on morning line) in the New York Stallion Stakes. “Ava’s Grace has the class edge here. Strong Win bet on the 10, plus box in exactas with #1 Show Me the Honey (8-1), who is a rising star in the New York-bred division.”
Belmont Races Nos. 7-10 (4:06 p.m. ET/1:06 p.m. PT)
Ed Sehon likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $60)
Race 7: 4,5,7,8,9
Race 8: 4,6,8,10
Race 9: 4,13
Race 10: 1,2,12
Duane Colucci likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $96)
Race 7: 4,5,8,9
Race 8: 4,5,6,10
Race 9: 2,4,6,7
Race 10: 4,7,12
Santa Anita Race No. 3 (5:06 p.m. ET/2:06 p.m. PT)
Dave Tuley likes #5 Wound Tight (15-1 morning line) in the Siren Lure Stakes. “There’s plenty of speed in this 6 1/2-furlong turf sprint, but no dominant pacesetter. If you throw out his last start, he should be right in this race with just as much chance of going wire-to-wire (but with a bigger upside price-wise). Wager: Win & Place.”
Gulfstream Race No. 11 (5:35 p.m. ET/2:35 p.m. PT)
Dave Tuley likes #1 Champagne Ivy (12-1 morning line) in the Martha Washington Stakes. “I don’t often like maidens in stakes races (even a minor one like this one), but this 3-year-old filly could be the controlling speed of this race breaking from the rail. I’m also putting stock in the fact that trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. is great at placing his horses. Wager: Win & Place.”
Belmont Race No. 9 (5:12 p.m. ET/2:12 p.m. PT)
John Lauro likes #13 Step Dancer (3-1 on morning line) in the New York Stallion Stakes. “In the colts division, Step Dancer was eight-wide last time. Dylan Davis can save some ground. The turn back in distance should have him rolling late to get the victory. Strong Win bet.”
Santa Anita Races Nos. 8-11 (7:50 p.m. ET/4:50 p.m. PT)
Duane Colucci likes the following $0.50 Pick 4 (cost $54)
Race 8: 1,2,7,9
Race 9: 1,2,8
Race 10: 3,6,8
Race 11: 2,3,4
