In the meantime, let’s examine where smart money is leaning for Sunday’s MLB slate…
1:35 p.m. ET: New York Mets at Pittsburgh Pirates (-120, 9)
This is the rubber game of a three-game series. The Pirates (33-30) won the opener 14-7, cruising as -110 home favorites. Then the Mets (31-34) bounced back with a 5-1 win on Saturday, taking care of business as -120 road favorites. In this afternoon’s series finale, the Mets hand the ball to righty Carlos Carrasco (2-2, 5.94 ERA) and the Pirates counter with fellow righty Mitch Keller (7-2, 3.60 ERA). This line opened with Pittsburgh listed as a -115 home favorite and New York a +105 road dog. The public is roughly split and doesn’t know which side to take. However, despite this even ticket count we’ve seen Pittsburgh creep up from -115 to -120. This signals smart money laying the short chalk with the Pirates. Non-division home favorites receiving steam 5-cents or more are 112-66 (63%) this season. Pittsburgh is 11-6 as a favorite. New York is 5-13 as a dog. Pros have also leaned under, as the total is 9 with the under juiced to -115, signaling a possible fall down to 8.5. The under is receiving 64% of bets and 83% of money, a sharp bet discrepancy. The forecast calls for low 80s with 7-10 MPH winds blowing in from right.
3:10 p.m. ET: San Diego Padres (-185, 12) at Colorado Rockies
The Padres (31-33) have taken the first two games of this three-game series, winning the opener 9-6 as -200 road favorites and then winning again yesterday 3-2 as -140 road favorites. In this afternoon’s series finale, the Padres start lefty Blake Snell (2-6, 4.06 ERA) and the Rockies (26-40) go with righty Dinelson Lamet (1-3, 12.42 ERA). This line opened with San Diego listed as a -175 road favorite and Colorado a +160 home dog. Pros are banking on the Padres to complete the sweep, driving San Diego up from -175 to -185. The Padres are receiving roughly 85% of bets and dollars, signaling a heavy combination of both Pro and Joe support. Sharps are also leaning over, as the total is 12 with the over juiced to -115. The over is receiving just 26% of bets but 76% of money, a massive sharp contrarian bet discrepancy.
