Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Tuesday, May 30th:
Cincinnati Reds at Boston Red Sox (-190, 9.5)
Ben Lively is having a nice season for Cincinnati, as the righty is 2-2 with a 2.65 ERA this year. However, this game has the highest total on the board tonight, and Lively is a right-handed pitcher. With that said, Alex Verdugo is going to be a threat to produce at the plate.
This year, Verdugo is batting .309 with 11 doubles, a triple, five homers and 15 RBIs against righties. The outfielder has always been a nightmare for opposing right-handers, so that isn’t anything new. Verdugo also happens to be batting .343 at Fenway Park this season, so he also has that working in his favor tonight.
It’s just hard not to like Verdugo to go for at least two total bases here. He’ll likely have at least one extra base hit in this game.
Bet: Verdugo Over 1.5 Total Bases (-105)
Tampa Bay Rays (-190, 8.5) at Chicago Cubs
Kyle Hendricks is taking the mound for the Cubs tonight, and the righty is coming off a rough start to his season. In his 2023 debut, Hendricks gave up three earned runs on six hits in 4.1 innings of work against the New York Mets on May 25th. Now, Hendricks is tasked with going up against the best team in baseball.
With fading Hendricks being a good idea tonight, one player I like to come through at the plate is Josh Lowe. The slugger is actually 2 for 3 against Hendricks in his career, and he has just been unstoppable this season. In 2023, Lowe is batting .301 with 11 homers and 37 RBIs, while also adding 12 doubles. Lowe has also done most of that damage against righties, and he now faces one that throws a lot of strikes and doesn’t put much power behind his pitches. So, don’t be surprised if Lowe turns in a big game here.
Bet: J. Lowe Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130)
New York Yankees at Seattle Mariners (-130, 7)
This season has been a rough one for Nestor Cortes, who has a 5.30 ERA in 10 starts. However, this meeting with the Mariners should be one that allows the lefty to miss some bats. Seattle has the fourth-highest strikeout rate in baseball this season, and the team is worse at making contact against lefties than it is against righties.
Look for Cortes to go out there and strike out at least six batters in this one, which is something he has done in five of his last eight starts. Cortes had 10 strikeouts in his only meeting with the Mariners in 2022, and that start also happened to be at T-Mobile Park.
Bet: Cortes Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-135)
