Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Friday, June 30th:
San Diego Padres (-135, 11) at Cincinnati Reds
This Padres and Reds game has a total of 11 runs, which is tied for the highest total on the board today. That means that this is a good opportunity to back some hitter props, and I find it difficult not to take Elly De La Cruz to reach the two total base mark at plus-money odds here. Seth Lugo looked unhittable early in the season for San Diego, but he has since come crashing back to earth. Lugo has given up at least six hits in five of his last eight outings, and I think De La Cruz will give him fits here.
Since getting called up to the bigs, De La Cruz is batting .301 with two triples, five doubles, three homers and 11 RBIs. And the 21-year-old has done most of his damage against right-handed pitching, with all of those extra base hits and homers coming against righties. With that said, how can you not love De La Cruz to come through at the plate against Lugo? It’s highly unlikely the Reds hold their own in a potentially high-scoring game without De La Cruz doing his part. And De La Cruz has the wheels required to turn good contact into an extra base hit.
Bet: De La Cruz 1.5 Total Bases (+110)
Detroit Tigers (-115, 11) at Colorado Rockies
I always love attacking hitter props at Coors Field and I’m looking at Miguel Cabrera in this game. Austin Gomber is starting this game for Colorado and the lefty is just 5-7 with a 7.01 ERA this season. Gomber also has a miserable 8.72 ERA in nine home starts this season, so he hasn’t been able to find any sort of groove pitching in this hitter-friendly ballpark. Now, Gomber faces a hitter in Cabrera that crushes lefties.
Cabrera has had his struggles throughout this season, but he is still batting .314 with three doubles in 35 at-bats against southpaws. And in his career, Cabrera is batting .315 with a slugging percentage of .530 against left-handed pitching.
With Cabrera, the only concern is that he’ll simply just look to slap a hit for a single here. But he still has some pop in that bat, and I can see him hitting a double or going yard in this game. Or, at the very least, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he were to have two base hits.
Bet: Cabrera Over 1.5 Total Bases (+120)
Tampa Bay Rays (-130, 7.5) at Seattle Mariners
Bryce Miller has been pitching very well for the Mariners this season, as he’s 5-3 with a 3.88 ERA in his first year in the league. However, the righty has had some issues with walks recently. In fact, Miller has walked at least two batters in three of his last four starts. And he walked three batters in two of those performances, making it a little surprising that you can get him to walk two hitters at plus-money odds tonight.
This season, Tampa Bay has the ninth-highest walk rate in the league against right-handed pitching. And that’s pretty significant because they have one of the lowest walk rates in the league against lefties. So, this team definitely produces better at-bats against righties, and they’ll be patient and give Miller the opportunity to implode here. This is one of the biggest starts of his young career, as he’s facing an elite team under the lights. That means nerves could help us quite a bit here.
Bet: Miller Over 1.5 Walks (+120)
