Best Bets on Today’s MLB Player Props Market
The 2023 MLB season is underway and VSiN has you covered with every way you can possibly bet on a baseball game. As always, Adam Burke will have daily best bets to give you some ideas of what to back when it comes to moneylines, run lines and totals. However, I’m tackling player props here, and I’m targeting MacKenzie Gore, Riley Greene and Sonny Gray on Monday, July 17th. Keep reading to find out how I’m betting on all of them.

Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Monday, July 17th:
Washington Nationals at Chicago Cubs (-140, 8.5)
MacKenzie Gore has been a guy that has missed quite a few bats this season, as he has some electric stuff when he has it going. The lefty can occasionally struggle with his control, but he’s generally a good bet to go Over his strikeout total. And Gore is going to like getting a crack at the Cubs here. Chicago has been a very friendly matchup as far as strikeouts go in recent months, with the Cubs now having the sixth-highest strikeout rate in the league against left-handed pitching. The only thing to worry about here is whether Gore will work deep enough into this game to get to six strikeouts. He was a little banged up before the All-Star break, so it’s not crazy to think that Washington will be careful with him. But if he’s healthy enough to start, it’s better to assume he’ll handle his full workload.
Bet: Gore Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-125)
Detroit Tigers (-130, 9.5) at Kansas City Royals
Jordan Lyles has been a good pitcher to fade this season, as he’s 1-11 with a 6.42 ERA and gives up nearly a hit per hitting. With that said, I wanted to find a batter prop for somebody on the Tigers. I ultimately ended up landing on Riley Greene, who has been great against righties this season. This year, Greene is batting .308 with two triples, seven doubles and six homers against right-handed pitching. He has arguably been the most dangerous Detroit hitter in these types of matchups, so he felt like the easy decision to back in this game. And you’re getting him at plus-money odds, which is only an added bonus.
Bet: Greene Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110)
Minnesota Twins at Seattle Mariners (-135, 7.5)
This game has the lowest total on the board and looks like it could turn into a duel on the mound. For that reason, it seems like a good idea to bet on one of the pitchers to turn in a good performance. And I think Sonny Gray should find a way to work somewhat deep in this one, pitching at least 6.0 innings for Minnesota. Gray recorded at least 18 outs in back-to-back starts heading into the break, and he happens to have a 2.74 ERA in eight road starts this season. With that in mind, he should be comfortable out there and I don’t see him having an issue throwing this many innings in a solid matchup. Seattle doesn’t hit righties very hard, so there’s nothing about this lineup that will be especially daunting. And the Mariners also happen to strike out pretty often, so Gray could get it rolling with his swing-and-miss stuff.
