Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Tuesday, April 11:
St. Louis Cardinals (-170, 12) at Colorado Rockies
The total on this game is one of the highest ones you’ll see this season, so something is going to have to give with the starting pitchers here. With that in mind, we’re looking at Miles Mikolas to give up at least three earned runs in this game.
Mikolas has been pitiful at hitter-friendly Coors Field in his career, as he has a 13.50 ERA across 13.1 innings pitched in Colorado. That means he has given up 20 earned runs in those 13.1 frames, and it’s hard to see him dialing it in and pitching well in this spot.
Mikolas has been pretty lousy to start this season, as he has allowed 10 earned runs in 9.1 innings of work. The righty has also given up 19 hits in those 9.1 innings, so he is just begging for trouble by inviting that much contact. And that contact will go a lot further in Colorado, so this could potentially get ugly for him.
Bet: Mikolas Over 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-165)
Washington Nationals at Los Angeles Angels (-300, 8)
Josiah Gray is coming off a remarkable start for the Nationals, as he pitched six innings of one-run ball in a road game against the Rockies on April 6th. However, Gray gave up five earned runs on seven hits in his first start of the year, so he hasn’t exactly been perfect. And he now goes back on the road for a meeting with Mike Trout and the Angels.
Trout is 0 for 3 against Gray in his career, but he’s way too good of a hitter for those struggles to continue. And the 31-year-old also happens to be seeing the ball incredibly well this season, as he’s batting .306 with three homers and nine RBIs thus far. Simply put, Trout is an extra base hit machine, and these odds feel like a gift when you consider how likely it is that he goes over with one swing of the bat.
Trout is also due for a hit in this one after having uncharacteristically gone 0 for 5 on Monday.
Bet: Trout Over 1.5 Total Bases (-115)
Los Angeles Dodgers (-155, 8.5) at San Francisco Giants
Mookie Betts got off to a slow start this season, but he’s starting to get a little hot now. The superstar enters this game on a four-game hitting streak, and he’s coming off his best performance of the season on Monday. Betts was 3 for 5 with a homer and two RBIs against the Giants in that one, and we’re now looking for him to deliver another RBI on Tuesday.
Betts has an incredible matchup for himself in this one, as he is 9 for 18 with a double, a triple, three homers and four RBIs against Alex Wood in his career. It’s not all that surprising when you consider that Betts has slightly better career numbers against lefties than he does righties, but that’s beside the point. Betts is going to be looking forward to this game because of his head-to-head success against Wood, and we just love him to drive a run in here — and wouldn’t be all that surprised if he does it himself with another homer.
Bet: Betts Over 0.5 RBIs (+150)
