Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Friday, June 2nd:
Milwaukee Brewers (-155, 10) at Cincinnati Reds
Owen Miller has been a revelation for Milwaukee this season. The 26-year-old is batting .328 with four homers and 15 RBIs on the year, which has been a nice surprise after he hit .243 with six homers and 51 RBIs with the Cleveland Guardians last season. Miller has also been the Brewers’ most dangerous hitter against left-handed pitching, which is why we like him to go over 1.5 total bases against Brandon Williamson tonight.
This season, Miller is batting .333 with four doubles and 15 hits against southpaws, and Williamson isn’t exactly an intimidating pitcher. Sure, he stands at a massive 6-foot-6 but Williamson has a 5.02 ERA this season. And he has given up seven earned runs over his last 8.2 innings on the hill, failing to work into the sixth inning in both of his most recent starts.
I like Miller to come away with multiple hits or just go for an extra base here. And the plus-money odds certainly make it more enticing.
Bet: Miller Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105)
Atlanta Braves (-125, 9.5) at Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks are tied for seventh in the league in wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season. Arizona is also sixth in OPS and fifth in SLG against righties. And keeping it a little simpler, the Diamondbacks are fifth in MLB in batting average and ninth in runs scored against righties. With that said, Arizona should be looking forward to tonight’s matchup against Charlie Morton.
Morton is still capable of dialing it back and turning in some strong outings, but the righty is also extremely hittable at this point in his career. The 39-year-old comes into this game after having allowed seven hits in each of his past three games, but he has been able to limit the damage in those outings. He might not be as fortunate against the Diamondbacks, as this team makes a lot of hard contact and takes advantage of the favorable batting conditions in the desert.
Morton gave up four earned runs in 5.0 innings in his only start in Arizona last season. And the Diamondbacks lineup is a lot better this year than it was last year.
Bet: Morton Over 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (+100)
Chicago Cubs at San Diego Padres (-165, 8.5)
For as lousy as this season has been for Jameson Taillon, the righty has had at least five strikeouts in four of his eight starts. Now, Taillon faces a Padres team that has the seventh-highest strikeout rate in the league against right-handed pitching. Despite that, you can still get big plus-money odds on Taillon to finish this game with five or more strikeouts. So, how can we possibly pass up on this?
There are also quite a few guys in the Padres lineup that have had trouble making contact against Taillon in the past, with Juan Soto, Rougned Odor and Matt Carpenter being a few that come to mind. So, Taillon should be comfortable with this matchup, even if he has struggled to get himself going this season.
Bet: Taillon Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+130)
