Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Monday, May 29th:
Kansas City Royals at St. Louis Cardinals (-200, 10)
I have been trying to make more of an effort to focus strictly on plus-money plays with these, but I don’t mind playing Salvador Perez to reach two total bases at -120. This season, Perez is batting .301 with nine doubles, 11 homers and 28 RBIs against right-handed pitching, and he now gets to face Adam Wainwright.
Wainwright has just been extremely hittable this season, as he has a 6.33 ERA through four starts. The righty also comes into this game after having allowed at least four earned runs in each of his outings, and it’s just hard to see a guy like him keeping Perez in check. Look for Salvy to potentially win this thing with one swing of the bat, either by ripping a double or going yard.
Bet: Perez Over 1.5 Total Bases (-120)
Tampa Bay Rays (-120, 8.5) at Chicago Cubs
Bradley is coming off a rough outing against the Toronto Blue Jays, as the 22-year-old gave up four earned runs on nine hits in only 4.0 innings of work. However, Bradley did strike out seven batters in that game, and he has now had at least six strikeouts in four of his five starts this season. So, it’s a little surprising to see him at plus-money odds to reach that mark on Monday. And rather than overthinking it, we’re just taking it and hoping he misses a lot of bats against the Cubs.
Two of Bradley’s best starts of the year have come on the road, so it’s hard to expect him to be intimidated by pitching at Wrigley Field. And it’s not like this Cubs team is a difficult matchup or anything. Chicago is a middle-of-the-pack team when it comes to hitting righties, so he should be able to find some success against this lineup.
Bet: Bradley Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+115)
Pittsburgh Pirates at San Francisco Giants (-145, 8)
Rich Hill isn’t exactly a pitcher that goes out and dominates his opponents with electric stuff. The 43-year-old is more of a junkballer, relying on smoke and mirrors to fool hitters. But the lefty has already had five starts in which he has had at least seven strikeouts this season. And Hill has racked up 16 strikeouts over his last two starts. With that in mind, we’re playing him to whiff at least six against the Giants.
This season, San Francisco has the third-highest strikeout rate in the league against left-handed pitching, and the team hasn’t quite seen anybody like Hill. It isn’t hard to see him getting some of these Giants hitters completely off balance in this one, and this actually feels like a game in which the veteran might be able to cruise quite a bit.
Bet: Hill Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+120)
