Game 4 Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Yankees Prediction:

The New York Yankees need to defend their home field in Game 4 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. They turn to pitcher Luis Gil for a big start.

Gil has made only one start in the playoffs, allowing two runs in four innings against the Cleveland Guardians. He issued three walks, which has been his weakness this season.

Top MLB Resources:

Between the regular season and playoffs, Gil has a 3.53 ERA with 10.1 strikeouts and over 4.6 walks per nine innings allowed. His ERA at home and on the road are nearly identical, but he is allowing around 1.3 home runs per nine innings at home this season.

Backing up Gil is a New York Yankees bullpen that entered Game 3 with a 2.87 ERA during the playoffs after having a 3.62 ERA in the regular season. The Dodgers will lean heavily in Game 4 on their bullpen, one that posted a 3.53 ERA during the regular season compared to a 3.08 ERA in the playoffs.

As of Monday night, the Dodgers had not named a starter. It figures to be the truest of true bullpen games as the team has already used three of them. In just one of them, a pitcher has recorded more than two outs with Brent Honeywell lending three innings of length when the team lost Game 2 of the National League Championship Series 7-3.

The Yankees and Dodgers are the top two run-producing offenses that made the playoffs. The Dodgers average just under 5.3 runs per game, with barely over 4.9 runs per game at home compared to 5.6 runs per game on the road. The Yankees have generated nearly five runs per game this season.

The New York Yankees are in desperate need of a win in Game 4. With the Dodgers having a used up a fair amount of their bullpen in Game 3 while not having a true bulk guy for this game, the Yankees will get a win at home.
