Best Bets on Today’s 15-Game MLB Schedule

Here are our favorite MLB prop bets for Sunday, June 4th:
St. Louis Cardinals (-150, 8.5) at Pittsburgh Pirates
Most of the bets on today’s meeting between the Cardinals and Pirates are on the over, but the sharp money appears to be on the under. And when you consider the early start time for this game, it’s easy to figure out why. Both these teams could struggle to get going in this one, especially with this being a decent battle on the mound. After a slow start to the season, Miles Mikolas has allowed just five earned runs over his last five starts. And he has given up no earned runs in his last 15.0 innings on the bump. Meanwhile, Rich Hill has had two rough outings in a row, but he is a guy that can be tricky to face — especially for a team playing much earlier than normal. I’d expect the Cardinals to get off to a sluggish start in this game, paving the way for this to be a low-scoring affair. Hill just needs to be careful when facing Paul Goldschmidt, who has crushed him throughout his career.
Bet: Under 8.5 (+100)
Tampa Bay Rays (-115, 9.5) at Boston Red Sox
Taj Bradley has been a revelation for the Rays this season, as he’s 3-2 with a 3.60 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 30.0 innings of work. This is, however, a very difficult spot for a rookie starter. Bradley faced the Red Sox in his MLB debut, when he gave up three earned runs on five hits in 5.0 innings of work. Now, Boston knows what to expect when facing the 22-year-old, who should also be a bit nervous having to pitch in Fenway Park for the first time. The Red Sox also happened to score seven runs over the course of the game when they faced Bradley the first time. And they’re a team that is a lot more dangerous when playing at home, where they’re batting .293 with 186 runs this season — compared to .228 with 117 runs in four fewer road games. Boston is also top 10 in the league when it comes to wRC+, SLG and OPS against right-handed pitching. So, most of the Red Sox players will be looking forward to this matchup.
Bet: Red Sox Team Total Over 4.5 (+100)
Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox (-170, 8.5)
Kopech has really started to figure things out recently. The righty once looked like he’d be one of the best pitchers in baseball when it comes to swing-and-miss stuff, but he started off slow to start the year. But Kopech has now whiffed 29 batters over his last three starts. And the most ridiculous stat you’ll hear all season is that he had 10 strikeouts in only 4.1 innings against the Los Angeles Angels in his most recent start. With Kopech in this type of a groove, it just seems like a great idea to grab him at plus-money odds to strike out eight against the Tigers. Detroit has the ninth-highest strikeout rate in baseball against righties this season, and only two teams in MLB have a worse batting average against them than the Tigers. So, this is a good matchup for the 27-year-old to keep up the momentum.
