MLB value plays for Friday, June 9
Greg Peterson posts his daily handicapped MLB lines for every game every day. Based on his lines vs. the actual lines, here is where Peterson sees value on today’s menu. Peterson also does a daily podcast, The Baseball Betting Show, on which he breaks down every game every day.
Mets vs. Pirates Total 9. Greg’s Total 8.2.
The Pirates have had a tough time scoring for over a month, plating three runs or fewer in 23 of their last 29 starts. The Mets are dealing with an injury to MLB home run leader Pete Alonso and entered Thursday’s wacky 13-10 loss to the Braves 20th in the league in runs per game.
Royals vs. Orioles (-1.5 +110). Greg’s Run Line: Orioles-1.5 -116.
Orioles starter Tyler Wells has the top WHIP of any qualifying American League starter at 0.849 with a 3.29 ERA. He faces a Royals lineup that is last in the league in both road and overall on-base percentage. Royals starter Daniel Lynch allowed seven runs, five of which were earned, in two home starts against the Washington Nationals and Colorado Rockies since coming off the injured list. The Royals also have the second-worst bullpen ERA in the league behind Lynch.
Athletics vs. Brewers Total 9.5. Greg’s Total 8.8.
While the Athletics are dead last in nearly every pitching metric, they face a Brewers lineup that is 14th out of the 15 National League teams in runs per game and 25th overall in home batting average. The Athletics have scored three runs or fewer in 19 of their last 25 games, and Brewers starter Adrian Houser has allowed one or zero runs in three of his last four starts.
