Tuesday Best Bet Results
Tuesday was another winning day in and out of the Tuley’s Takes home office.
After mostly taking care of some much-needed spring cleaning and chores around the house, I also took my wife and her cousin (and her new husband; yes, they’ve been here for more than a week for those who remember me talking about their wedding last Wednesday) to Jerry’s Nugget for my favorite prime rib in Vegas (North Las Vegas, to be exact). I’m sad to report that JN no longer has the 48-50 ounce Flintstones-sized prime rib on the menu, but the 28-30 ounce “double cut” was still delicious.
The meal tasted even better after my Best Bet on the Hurricanes pulled away to an easy 6-1 win over the Devils after I gave them out yesterday as +130 road underdogs (they closed an average of +135 here in Vegas with some books as high as +145, so hopefully followers got the best price available).
I split my two MLB First 5 Inning plays as we lost Brewers F5 +105 vs. the Dodgers as they trailed 4-0 after 5 innings and went on to lose 6-2, but then won with the Marlins F5 -105 at the Diamondbacks as they led 6-1 after 5 and went on to win 6-2.
For me and my followers, the 2-1 record improved us to 15-7-4 (68.2%) so far in May for a net profit of $946.21 based on $100 flat bets, according to the VSiN PRO Picks page. While I’m obviously happy with the +9.46 units of profit, I’m more proud of the winning percentage as those are all underdogs and several of them have been plus-money. Normally, if laying the standard -110, a record of 15-7-4 would have a net profit of 7.3 units.
Let’s look for more Best Bets on Wednesday’s schedule, though I’m passing on the NBA and NHL playoff games as all 4 favorites are in the zig-zag role, so it’s looking like a chalky night.

MLB Wednesday Best Bets
Padres First 5 +105 at Twins: The pitching matchup is pretty equal with Seth Lugo (3-2, 3.21 ERA) vs. Pablo Lopez (2-2, 3.77 ETA) and both teams have identical 19-17 records, but we believe the Padres are the more talented team overall as well as moving forward and should be favored (they’re also a generous +112 for the game). They beat Minnesota 6-1 in the first game of the series last night, dealing the Twins their third straight loss, and I look for them to carry that momentum into tonight’s game.
Marlins First 5 +115 at Diamondbacks: Similar to the Padres-Twins game, we believe the favorite is overpriced (maybe still getting too much credit for home-field advantage?), even though we do like Arizona’s Merrill Kelly (3-3, 2.75 ERA). But Miami’s Edward Cabrera (2-3, 4.78 ERA) is good enough to keep this close. This is more of a lukewarm pick than the Padres, but the Marlins came through for us last night and we want to back them again. Note: this game goes a little early at 3:40 p.m. ET/12:40 p.m. PT.
