Wednesday Best Bet Results
Wednesday was another winning day with the family on our 3rd annual San Francisco trip, but we again had a losing day with our picks here.
We continued to tour all areas of this great city as we went to the Castro area and also Chinatown. We had dinner at Hang Ah Tea House (Sacramento Street and Pagoda Place), our favorite place to eat in San Francisco as it was the first dim sum house in the United States (circa 1920).
We were too busy window shopping that we didn’t get to the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Company, which is too bad as I wanted to get a fortune cookie to see if my luck is about to change.

As it was, I went with just one game on Wednesday and lost 2 bets on the Guardians First 5 Innings +0.5 +105 vs the Braves and F5 +140 MLB as the Braves bounced back from having their 9-game winning streak snapped to lead 5-0 after the first 5 innings and coast to an 8-1 victory.
The 0-2 mark continued our June swoon as we dropped to a woeful 2-9 and -6.65 units so far in July, according to the VSiN Pro Picks page. I’ll repeat what I wrote yesterday (for those who missed it) that I know some will say “you’re losing because you’re distracted by your family vacation.” But I’m not going to use that as an excuse, and I don’t believe that anyway. At the end of the day, I’m giving as much time to my picks as I do at any other time of the year – it’s a coincidence that my slump is happening now. And, as I said, I was scuffling even before this trip.
Besides, I’ve been betting on sports daily for close to 25 years when I moved to Las Vegas in 1998 and there’s no real correlation to the amount of time you spend handicapping and how successful you are. I’ve had seasons where I’ve prepared tirelessly and had great seasons but also seasons when I’ve done terribly after working just as hard. I always think back to 2001 when my wife was pregnant with our first child and everyone told me I was going to have a terrible football season because the baby would be keeping me up at nights – and I went out and had one of my best seasons ever.
We’ll get through this, though I will say that I’m probably looking forward to the All-Star Break as much as the players so I take a few days off as I haven’t had a day off in nearly a year since last July.
I’m going to stick with just my very best play of the day on Thursday as we don’t believe in pressing when in a slump.
MLB Thursday Best Bet
Reds First 5 Innings +105 at Nationals: Hey, I like Washington starter MacKenzie Gore (4-7, 4.48 ERA) as much as the next guy, but the Reds are still the far superior team (and I did well with them in the spring until recently). They are also starting to play well again with a 4-game winning streak, so I’ll gladly take them with Brandon Williamson (1-2, 5.56 ERA).
