Monday Best Bet Results
It was another roller-coaster of a day on Monday in the Tuley’s Takes home office.
We won our Best Bet of the day with the 76ers +10 in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series as we felt the number was inflated with Joel Embiid being out. James Harden and the rest of the 76ers picked up the slack by not only covering (they were tied entering the fourth quarter, so that looked pretty safe) but going on to win outright, 119-115, at +400 on the money line.
We were also looking good with our other NBA play on the Suns +4.5 at the Nuggets as they led by 3 points going into the fourth quarter, but that didn’t work out so well as the Nuggets rallied to not only win but cover in a 97-87 victory. We were also teased earlier with our MLB play as the Red Sox (our official play was First 5 Innings +120) jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the Blue Jays in the bottom of the first inning (we shoulda just played the 1st inning, huh?). However, they trailed 3-2 through the 5th inning to lose our main bet, though they did end up winning the game 6-5 as MLB’s biggest winning underdog of the day at +140 on the full-game money line for those who played it that way.
Let’s get to Tuesday’s action. We’re passing in the NBA and NHL, but like 3 games on the full MLB card.
MLB Tuesday Best Bets
White Sox First 5 +140 / +153 ML vs. Twins: This is a “swagger play” as the White Sox snapped their 10-game losing streak by scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning on Sunday (capped off by Andrew Vaughn’s three-run walk-off HR) to shock the Rays 12-9. We would like these plays better if they were playing the next day instead of having Monday off, but there’s still value. The Twins have the better of this pitching matchup with Joe Ryan (5-0, 2.81 ERA) vs. Michael Kopech (0-3, 7.01 ERA), but Kopech is better than that.
A’s First 5 +105 vs. Mariners: This is another swagger play, though of the mini-variety as the A’s snapped a 5-game losing streak with their 5-4 win vs. the Reds on Sunday (though it was also a 9-game home skid).
Braves First 5 +115 at Marlins: Unlike the above plays, we get a good team with this pick as I’m thrilled to be getting plus-money on the Braves (19-10) vs. the Marlins (16-13). We also get Bryce Elder (2-0, 2.17) vs. Sandy Alcantara (1-2, 5.04 ERA), who isn’t as dominant as we saw last year. We were tempted to make this our top play, but hopefully they all win (or go 3-1, or 2-1-1 if one pushes).
