Happy Birthday to me! Yep, I turned 57 this morning, so I guess I cashed on the Over 56.5. I wasn’t so lucky with my MLB First 5 underdogs on Birthday Eve as I went 0-2 with losses on the Angels and Cardinals.
The Angels fell behind the Braves 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st inning, but rallied to tie the game 1-1 vs. Spencer Strider in the top of the 5th inning as it looked like we would win our +0.5 +140 play and push our +200 F5 moneyline play. However, LA’s Patrick Sanoval gave up a solo homer to Michael Harris II in the bottom of the 5th to beat us 2-1.

We also suffered another tough loss as the Cardinals were in a scoreless tie with the Twins until the top of the 5th inning before giving up an unearned run.
For the record, our officially posted plays on the VSiN Pro Picks page went 0-3, though we usually bet a combined 1 unit when doing the +0.5 F5 runline/F5 ML combo (as we’ve written before, when I make this kind of play I’ll wager 2-3 times more on the +0.5 bet in case the bet lands on the number, so a $200-unit bettors would bet around $150 on the +0.5 F5 RL and $50 on the F5 ML for their 1-unit play).
Let’s try to get back on the winning track on my birthday, though I only have one play on Wednesday’s full 15-game card. Personally, I’m going to be backing off on MLB, partly since we’ve have had such a rough summer on the diamond (giving back our 15-unit winning month of May and then some). Plus, as I mentioned on “The Greg Peterson Experience” two Sundays ago, after the trading deadline we’ll be seeing more of a separation between the haves and have-nots and harder to find live dogs. The better teams have improved themselves with deals while a lot of the also-rans have dealt away some of their top players and could be playing out the string.
As for Wednesday, our potential “mini-swagger” plays on the Twins, Rangers and Brewers are all going off as favorites (so there’s some leans for our chalk-betting readers).Oh, and another reason: our attention is turning more to football with the NFL preseason starting Thursday with the Hall of Fame Game and the VSiN College Football Betting Guide coming out to help us all prepare for CFB in just a few short weeks.

Rays First 5 Innings +100 at Yankees: The Yankees (55-52) continue to scuffle along without Aaron Judge while the Rays (66-44, .600) still have the third-best record in MLB. It’s a great pitching matchup, but we’ll also be happy to take Shane McClanahan (11-1, 3.00 ERA) at even money vs. Gerrit Cole (9-2, 2.64 ERA).
