Here are our favorite NBA bets for Sunday, March 26th (odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook):
Chicago Bulls at Los Angeles Lakers (-4, 222.5)
While the Lakers have won three games in a row, the Bulls come into this one having gone 6-2 both straight-up and against the spread in their last eight games. In that eight-game span, Chicago has the second-best defensive rating in the league, and the team has a net rating of 6.4. Meanwhile, Los Angeles has a net rating of 4.7 over its last eight games.
With the Bulls playing a bit better right now, it just seems like the best play in this game would be to take the points. The team also has two motivated former Lakers in its backcourt, with this serving as a “revenge game” for both Alex Caruso (questionable) and Patrick Beverley. Speaking of Beverley, Chicago is 9-6 since picking up the feisty defender after the trade deadline. The Bulls are now firmly back in the Eastern Conference postseason mix.
Look for Chicago to do a nice job of defending the perimeter against Los Angeles in this one, and don’t be surprised if the Bulls offense looks pretty good, too. Nikola Vucevic is a pick-and-pop center, so he will pull Anthony Davis away from the basket. That will open up driving lanes for the rest of Chicago’s players — with Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan being the two that stand to benefit the most from that.
Bet: Bulls +4 (-110)
Brooklyn Nets at Orlando Magic (-1, 225.5)
The Nets have covered in back-to-back games and happen to be coming off an impressive road win over the Miami Heat. Brooklyn will now try and sweep its two-game road trip in the Sunshine State, and it’s hard not to like the Nets to do so — even with the Magic having gone 3-1 SU in their last four games.
Franz Wagner appears to be on the wrong side of questionable for today’s game, as he sprained his ankle and had to leave Orlando’s game against the New York Knicks on Thursday. But even if Wagner is out there, this will be a tough game for the Magic to win if his movement is compromised in any way. Wagner is Orlando’s best wing defender. He will be the one that handles the Mikal Bridges assignment in this game, and he can’t afford to do so at anything less than 100%. Bridges is averaging 25.8 points per game since getting to Brooklyn, and he’s a threat to really light it up in this game.
The Magic are also a team that does a lot of their damage inside the 3-point line. Orlando scores 53.6% of its points in that area, which is good for the 12th-highest mark in the NBA. But those points are going to be hard to come by against Nic Claxton, who is one of the game’s best rim protectors.
On top of all that, the Magic have also been a team that has oddly struggled a bit when getting too much rest this season. Orlando is 5-15 ATS in home games when playing only its second game in five days this season. The Magic have lost those games by an average of 6.6 points per game.
Bet: Nets +1
