Here are our favorite NBA prop bets for Thursday, April 6:
Cleveland Cavaliers at Orlando Magic (-10, 217.5)
It isn’t often that a 6-foot-3 guard is viewed as a consistent threat on the glass, but Cole Anthony really takes rebounding seriously. Despite playing only 25.8 minutes per game this year, Anthony is averaging 4.7 rebounds per game. Tonight, we need the 22-year-old to have at least five boards for us to cash.
Anthony averaged 5.3 rebounds per game in the month of March, and he’s averaging 5.0 rebounds per game through two games in April. The guard has also had at least five boards in 11 of his last 12 games, and he now has a pretty good matchup against a Cavaliers team that is resting all its best players.
Without having to rebound against Cleveland’s two-tree lineup with Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley, it should be rather easy for Anthony to find his way to impact this game as a rebounder. So, we’re backing him to hit the over in a game in which he should get some extended run.
Bet: Anthony Over 4.5 Assists (-130)
Portland Trail Blazers at San Antonio Spurs (-4, 227)
Since the All-Star break, Zach Collins is averaging 5.9 potential assists per game for the Spurs. The 25-year-old has emerged as one of the best passing bigs in the entire league, and he is constantly looking for cutters. San Antonio also puts a lot of trust in Collins, as the team runs a ton of offense through him. For those reasons, Collins has been a very profitable bet when it comes to his assist total.
On Thursday, Collins gets to face a Blazers defense that is just 27th in the league in defensive rating. Portland is also allowing more assists per game than any team in basketball, and this game has the potential to be a shootout — and that doesn’t really have anything to do with the talent on either side. With that in mind, Collins should be able to clear four assists rather easily. In fact, it wouldn’t be all that shocking if he hit his season-high of six tonight.
Bet: Collins Over 3.5 Assists (-105)
Oklahoma City Thunder (-7, 239.5) at Utah Jazz
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the best scorers in the league, as he’s fourth in the NBA in points per game. However, it does feel like his total of 32.5 is a little too high this evening. Oklahoma City is a 7-point favorite in this meeting with Utah, and this one could potentially turn into a one-sided affair. And if the Thunder do end up handling their business in this game, it’s hard to see Gilgeous-Alexander even playing enough minutes to go over this number.
Oklahoma City also has plenty of players that can contribute as scorers in this one, and Utah is going to try and force those other guys to play at a high level. With that said, we expect the Jazz to try and take the ball out of Gilgeous-Alexander’s hands. He’s averaging 38.5 points per game in his last two meetings with the Jazz, so it’s hard to see the home team being okay with him going off again.
Bet: Gilgeous-Alexander Under 32.5 Points (+110)
