2024 NFL Draft QBs

The 2024 NFL Draft first round will commence on Thursday April 25 and the quarterbacks are in the spotlight, much like they are every season. It is the most important position in all of sport and there are always teams in need of a new player at that spot.

One of the most popular NFL Draft bets on an annual basis is the Over/Under for QBs selected in the first round. With this year’s class of players, there are a few QBs that are a lock, but the discussion focuses on those who may or may not be drafted in the first round.

Here are the quarterbacks with a chance to be selected in the first round and the associated odds:

Odds current from DraftKings at 11 p.m. PT on April 24

Number of QBs to be drafted in the 2024 first round: 4.5 (Over -400; Under +300)

Caleb Williams

1st Overall Pick: -20000

Williams will be selected first overall by the Chicago Bears.

Jayden Daniels

1st Overall Pick: +2500

2nd Overall Pick: -1000

Daniels is a heavy favorite to go second overall to the Commanders. If he isn’t drafted there, he is unlikely to make it past the QB-needy Patriots at No. 3. He is a lock to go in the first round.

Drake Maye

1st Overall Pick: +3500

2nd Overall Pick: +600

3rd Overall Pick: -240

4th Overall Pick: +450

5th Overall Pick: +1800

Top 5 Pick: -4000

Where Maye goes in the draft is still up for debate, but the odds imply that he’s going to be a top-five pick in some capacity. If Daniels goes No. 2, it appears that Maye would go No. 3 to the Patriots based on the odds and the betting action thus far.

JJ McCarthy

1st Overall Pick: +6000

2nd Overall Pick: +1100

3rd Overall Pick: +190

4th Overall Pick: +380

5th Overall Pick: +330

Top 5 Pick: -130

Draft Position: 5.5 (Over +100; Under -130)

All of the top five options are plus money because it does appear that it would require a trade. If Williams, Daniels, and Maye go 1, 2, and 3, the Cardinals have the No. 4 pick and they don’t need a QB. The expectation is that the Vikings could try to move up to No. 4. The No. 5 pick belongs to the Chargers, who also don’t need a QB, but could absolutely use a WR that may keep them from trading out.

Michael Penix Jr.

Draft Position: 32.5 (Over +270; Under -350)

Higher Draft Position Penix vs. Nix: Penix -160; Nix +130

1st Round: -330

Las Vegas Raiders: +100

Minnesota Vikings: +450

Denver Broncos: +700

Seattle Seahawks: +450

New York Giants: +750

All others +1200 or higher

Reports about a week and a half in advance of the draft suggested that Penix might be a first-round pick, potentially to a team like the Raiders. At this point, it does seem like Penix is the likeliest of the other options to be the fifth QB to go in the first round.

Bo Nix

Draft Position: 32.5 (Over -150; Under +120)

1st Round: +130

Denver Broncos: -140

New York Giants: +500

Minnesota Vikings: +600

Los Angeles Rams: +650

Las Vegas Raiders: +750

All others +1600 or higher

Nix is also an option to go in the first round. He had a lackluster end to the season and didn’t look great at the Combine either. The Broncos are the favorite to take him, but they have pick No. 12 in the first round and nothing else. They don’t have another pick until the No. 12 pick in the third round. So, they’d have to do some maneuvering to get him in the mix.

At this point, Penix and Nix look like the only options. The odds will change a ton in the lead-up to the draft as rumors circulate around social media, so this is all subject to change.

Spencer Rattler

1st Round: +4000

Rattler is an extreme long shot to go in the first round, but he looked the part at the Combine and seems to be a guy that teams really like. Just maybe not as a first-round pick.
