MNF Titans vs. Dolphins Week 14 odds and predictions

Every week, VSiN will be doing an in-depth dive on the week’s Monday Night Football game. In Week 14, we’ll actually get two of those. But we’re focusing on just one here, and that game features the Miami Dolphins hosting the Tennessee Titans at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. The Titans are coming off a three-point loss to the Indianapolis Colts last week. Tennessee has now lost four of its last five games and things aren’t looking promising heading into this week. Miami is on a three-game winning streak after having beaten the Washington Commanders by 30 last week. The Dolphins are rolling and will be looking to win this one convincingly. With that out of the way, keep reading for our Titans vs. Dolphins preview, picks and player props.

How To Watch Titans vs. Dolphins

Date: Monday, December 11

Time: 8:15 p.m. ET

Channel: ESPN

Titans vs. Dolphins Spread

This should be an interesting game to watch, even if the Titans are no longer competing for a playoff spot in the AFC. The reason for that is that the Titans still have the ability to run the football efficiently, and that’ll be the case as long as Derrick Henry is with the team. And the Dolphins are just 20th in the league when it comes to Defensive DVOA against the run. So, Tennessee does possess the ability to move the ball on the ground. The problem is that Miami will be loading the box and doing its best to force Will Levis to make throws. And the Dolphins happen to be doing a better job than expected against the pass this year. They’re 11th in the league in DVOA against the pass, and that makes it a little hard to believe in the Titans keeping up in this spot.

Tennessee is actually first in the league in Defensive DVOA against the run, but that might be meaningless against Miami. The Dolphins do utilize the run to try and open things up in the passing game, but they’re top five in the league in Offensive DVOA when it comes to both. That said, it’s likely they’ll just ditch the run if it’s not working, which would be completely fine considering their personnel. This could be a massive game for Tua Tagovailoa, who has a plethora of weapons and will be working against a lousy secondary. Don’t be surprised if this ends up being a big game for Jaylen Waddle. I can see the Titans overloading Tyreek Hill’s side of the field, leaving Waddle to work against easier coverages. But eventually, Hill will get loose for a long reception. And that Dolphins explosiveness is what makes it hard to lay off Miami here.

Miami is 2-1 against the spread in the games it has played as a double-digit favorite this year, so the team is capable of completely blowing an opponent out. And the Dolphins have woken up offensively lately, as they’re averaging 39.5 points per game over the last two weeks. So, I can see Miami hanging a huge number on Tennessee here, and I don’t have much faith in the Titans to do the same.

Miami is also 6-0 ATS when facing teams that force 1.0 or fewer turnovers per game under Mike McDaniel. If you can’t get this Dolphins offense off the field one way or another, it’s just hard to compete with them.

Titans vs. Dolphins Total

I don’t think I’d personally play the total in this game, but I definitely don’t have any interest on being on the Under. The Dolphins are just too explosive offensively and they’re facing a team that likely won’t have an answer for them. So, I think Miami has the potential to really put a dent in this total on its own. However, I also don’t think the Dolphins will completely keep the Titans down. Levis hasn’t impressed me very much this season, but he does take shots down the field — especially in the direction of DeAndre Hopkins. So, a connection here or there — or a long run from Henry — can change this thing in a hurry.

The Over also happens to be 2-1 in the last three games that the Titans have played, and it has also hit in back-to-back games for the Dolphins. On top of that, the Over is 5-3 in the eight games the Dolphins have played as favorites this season.

Titans vs. Dolphins Player Props

Will Levis Over 208.5 Passing Yards (-113 – Play to Over 211.5)

Levis has thrown for at least 209 yards in three of the six games he has played this season. And while I’m not sure he’ll go Over that mark because he’ll be playing well in this game, I think there’s a good chance he hits it in garbage time. I just think that the Dolphins are going to jump out to a big lead at some point in this game, and that should mean that the Titans will have to throw to get back into it. That could lead to a lot of meaningless yards for Levis, who can also cut into this number by hitting a deep pass or two.

Titans vs. Dolphins Prediction

This is a game in which I’m most confident in my player prop. I think the Dolphins should win this game extremely comfortably, but I wouldn’t want to run the risk of a backdoor cover. But I think there’s a great chance that Levis throws for a ton of yards, even in a lopsided defeat. So, I’m playing him to go Over his number here and I’m not thinking twice about it.

Lean: Levis Over 208.5 Passing Yards
