NHL Best Bets

I thought the Ottawa Senators were going to pull it off last night. They probably deserved a better result than a 3-2 overtime loss against the Boston Bruins. That said, there are only four games tonight in the NHL, and I am looking at just one of them for my NHL Best Bets.

Los Angeles at Colorado (-150, 6.5)

The Colorado Avalanche are rolling. They’re 7-3-0 in their last 10 games, which is why I have my eye on them as an NHL Best Bet.

Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen are on another planet right now. In their last 10 games, the two have combined 39 points in that span, but what MacKinnon is doing right now absolutely insane. The Avalanche have played 24 home games this season, and while skating to a 19-5-0 record, MacKinnon has recorded a point in every single one of those games. He is now second in the league with 82 points (30 goals, 52 assists) in 48 games played.

The Los Angeles Kings have been on what could be the most disappointing slump in the NHL right now.

After a phenomenal start to the season, the Kings have gone 12-11-6 in their last 29 games, which is the 26th worst in the NHL since November 20th. They’re 2-5-3 in their last 10 games. Nothing seems to be going right for this team.

Since November 20th, they’re only scoring 2.76 goals per game, which is not enough to keep up with this high-flying Avalanche offense who are 20-9-3 in the same span.

The Kings have lost four of their last five games and are currently on a two-game losing streak.

Starting goalies haven’t been announced at the time of writing this, but I don’t think the goaltending makes much of a difference tonight. This is the perfect chance for the Avalanche to keep it rolling against a struggling Kings group.

NHL Best Bet: Colorado Avalanche to win in regulation -110 (play to -125)

2023-24 record: 79–89 (-29..86 units)
