NHL Best Bets
There are two games tonight in the NHL. Both home teams, the Nashville Predators and Vegas Golden Knights are hoping to avoid being eliminated in front of their own fans. The Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars series has been incredibly difficult to predict. At the time of writing this, I’m not sure if Vegas will start Adin Hill again, or Logan Thompson. As far as the Nashville Predators against Vancouver Canucks game goes, there are quite a few things to look for, and a worthy candidate for NHL best bets.
Vancouver at Nashville (-130, 5.5)
The Vancouver Canucks and Nashville Predators series has arguably been the most underhyped series of the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Canucks had a chance to put the series away in Game Five on home ice, they had a 1-0 lead in the third period but let it slip away. Now they find themselves heading back to Music City to avoid a Game Seven.
In my opinion, the Predators have been the better overall team in this series despite being down 3-2, but it’s also fair to say that this has been an evenly-played matchup. Both teams have been struggling to create offense. The Predators have done a phenomenal job at limiting the Canucks scoring chances and shots. Vancouver is only generating 18.4 shots on goal per game, but the Predators aren’t creating much more themselves as they’re averaging 24.4 shots on goal per game.
Elias Pettersson, one of if not the most important player for the Canucks, has had a very quiet series. He has zero goals and two assists, and he’s a -3 with only seven shots on goal. That is nowhere near good enough for the Canucks. They need him to step up.
The Predators got a big-time play from their captain, Roman Josi, who had the game-tying goal. He now has a goal and two assists in this series. They have had 11 different goal-scorers in this series which has been a difference-maker considering the Canucks have only had six.
Both teams are averaging 2.40 goals per game and goals against, which is a pretty wild stat through five games. The Under has hit in four of the five games, and something tells me with how the goaltending has been in this series, it will be very similar tonight.
