NHL Best Bets

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I can’t believe NHL All-Star week is already here – time is flying. There isn’t a ton going on around the league this week as most teams are off for the break, but there are two NHL games tonight. With that said, I only like one of the matchups for my NHL best bets.

Columbus at St. Louis (162, 6.5)

The St. Louis Blues are on an interesting win streak. They have won three straight games – all by the score of 4-3, and all three came in overtime. Collectively, they have won five straight games, but those last three happen to be unique.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have lost four out of their last five games, and this organization continues to trend in a downward direction. Tonight, they’ll be missing key players like Patrik Laine, Adam Fantilli and Jack Roslovic, so this is a good opportunity for the Blues to take advantage.

The Blues have been clicking all over the ice during their current winning streak. Their offense is on fire as they’re averaging 3.80 goals per game while converting at 35.7% on the man-advantage. Not only are they scoring goals, but they’re also defending well. They’ve allowed just 12 goals against, and their penalty kill is currently at an 83.3% success rate.

Jordan Binnington is likely to get the start in goal for St. Louis. He is 3-0-0 in his last three appearances with a 1.97 goals against average and a .933 save percentage.

In their last four games, the Blue Jackets are allowing 3.75 goals against per game, and their penalty kill is at a disastrous 45.5% – I cannot believe how bad their kill is.

All signs point towards the Blues tonight and I think they take this one in 60 minutes.

Bet: St. Louis Blues to win in regulation -125 (play to -135)

2023-24 record: 80–90 (-31.28 units)
