NHL Predictions – Expert Picks on Monday, January 27:

Here are tonight’s NHL predictions:

Vancouver Canucks at St. Louis Blues (-135, 5.5)

7:30 p.m. ET

Let’s get right to it. The Blues were blanked by Dallas on Saturday, and they fell into our system of wagering on a goal in the first ten minutes and the first period over in a team’s next game after being shut out. The goal in the first 10 has had a 70% success rate (64-28), and the first period Over 1.5 goals is at 60% (55-37). St. Louis games have had a goal in the first 10 minutes occur in their last six games and 12 of their last 14. It has also cashed in eight of their last nine home games. The first period Over 1.5 is on a 5-0 run overall.

I will stay away from the sides because it’s pretty much a coin flip for me. The Canucks are 3-9 as a road dog (8-2 road favorite), and the Blues are 5-4 as a home favorite (5-10 as a home underdog).

A couple of player props that have got my attention. The Blues’ Jordan Kyrou has 6 goals in 11 games against the Canucks, Pavel Buchnevich has two goals in two games against Canucks starting goalie Kevin Lankinen.

The Canucks, Quinn Hughes is on quite a run with five goals in his past five games. He has five goals in eight games against Blues starting goalie Jordan Binnington.

NHL Predictions:  Goal 1st 10/Yes (-135) – 2 units
1st Period Over 1.5 goals (-105) – ¾ unit
Quinn Hughes anytime goal (+450) – ¼ unit
Jordan Kyrou anytime goal (+210) – ¼ unit
Pavel Buchnevich anytime goal (+310) – ¼ unit

Seattle Kraken at Edmonton Oilers (-305, 6.5)

9:30 p.m. ET

It’s the return of Connor McDavid to the Edmonton Oilers after his three-game banishment for his cross check to the “chops” of Vancouver’s Conor Garland. Edmonton has won nine of the last 10 meetings between the two teams and have scored four or more goals in eight of the nine wins. It appears Joey Daccord will start for the Kraken and Calvin Pickard for the Oilers. Daccord has lost all five of his career starts against the Oilers and has a goals against average just shy of four goals per game.

A couple of Edmonton player props that I am looking at tonight. I gave out Jeff Skinner on Saturday against his former team (Buffalo) and will come back with him again today. He has seven goals in seven career games against the Kraken and two goals in three games against Joey Daccord. Zach Hyman has three goals in five games against Daccord, while Leon Draisaitl who couldn’t score on an empty net on Saturday, does have five goals in six games against the Kraken netminder.

NHL Predictions: Oilers TT Over 3.5 (-155) – 1 unit
Zach Hyman anytime goal (+150) – ¼ unit
Jeff Skinner anytime goal (+350) – ¼ unit
Leon Draisaitl anytime goal (-110) – ¼ unit
