Patrick Kane traded to Rangers
Multiple sources have confirmed that the New York Rangers are acquiring superstar Patrick Kane from the Chicago Blackhawks. Kane, who was drafted first overall by Chicago in 2007 and has put together an impressive resume. Kane led the Blackhawks to the Stanley Cup on three separate occasions on top of winning just about every induvial award in the NHL.

Of course, the 34-year-old is not the same caliber player that he was 10 years ago, but his recent play has been inspiring and he probably has a lot more left in the tank than he was letting on. Kane scored nine goals and 35 points in his first 50 games, but he registered seven goals and three assists in four games before the Blackhawks sat him down ahead of the trade. The Rangers rank 11th on offense but with Kane now in the mix, one would expect the team to improve in that area.
Kane should feel right at home with the Rangers if he’s paired alongside Artemi Panarin, his former linemate. Kane and Panarin played together for parts of two seasons and enjoyed a lot of success together, but we won’t know for sure until the latter suits up for the Blueshirts. Kane could make his Rangers’ debut on Wednesday in Philadelphia, but nothing has been confirmed by the team. The Rangers were priced at -180 prior to the news but the price moved to -200 shortly after news of the trade was released.
New York added Vladimir Tarasenko earlier this month but after winning their first four games following the trade, the Rangers have lost four of their last five games and have fallen nine points behind the Hurricanes in the standings and the latter has two games in hand. Still, the Rangers’ Stanley Cup odds have improved from +1600 to +1100 since the All-Star break because of how tough this roster is going to be come playoff time.
