Monday Best Bet Results
Monday was another one of those roller-coaster rides, as we ended up going 1-1-2 ATS with our Best Bets in the NBA playoffs and MLB.
We lost our top play on the Knicks +4.5 at the Heat as they had their chances to get within the spread but were mostly the wrong side in a 109-101 loss.
I pushed on my other NBA official play on the Warriors +3 at the Lakers in their 104-101 loss later Monday night. That certainly could have gone either way, and it was even more true for bettors that bet the game at 2.5 or 3.5. Honestly, I first decided to make the play about an hour before my regular Sunday night appearance on VSiN’s “The Greg Peterson Experience” (11:15 p.m. ET/8:15 p.m. PT, or 15 minutes into the archived version). At that time, the line was still Lakers -3.5 at several books with just as many down to -3. I actually sent Warriors +3.5 to the producers but by the time I went on the air the line had mostly moved to 3, so that’s what I gave out on the show and in the Monday version of this column. That was still available Monday morning before moving to and closing Lakers -2.5.
I also had a push on my Cardinals First 5 Innings +120 play at the Cubs as St. Louis led 1-0 heading into the bottom of the 5th only to have the Cubs tie it 1-1 to push our bet (the Cards did go on to win 3-1 for those who bet my pick that way). I did win my other MLB play as the Brewers First 5 -110 led the Dodgers 3-0 after 5 innings on the way to a 9-3 victory. Despite the 1-1-2 record, I’m still 13-6-4 so far in May for a net profit of $820.97 based on $100 flat bets, according to the VSiN PRO Picks page and even better at 12-4-4 the last 7 days for a profit of more than 9 units.
Let’s look for more Best Bets on Tuesday’s schedule.
NHL Tuesday Best Bet
Hurricanes +130 at Devils: I was more than a little bummed that I passed on the Vegas Golden Knights as +160 road underdogs in their 5-1 win at the Edmonton OIlers last night. They were in a zig-zag role, but I didn’t like that they were also in a mini-anti-swagger spot after having a 5-game winning streak snapped in Game 2 of the series. Let’s take the Hurricanes here in the zig-zag spot after they lost Game 3 to the Devils on Sunday. They clearly looked like the better team in 5-1 and 6-1 wins in Games 1 and 2 back at home and still lead 2-1 and have a great chance to take back control of the series.
MLB Tuesday Best Bets
Brewers First 5 +105 vs. Dodgers: After easily winning with the Brewers yesterday, let’s come right back on them as short home dogs as I have no problem fading the Dodgers again as they’re starting Noah Sydergaard (1-3, 6.32 ERA) vs. Milwaukee’s Eric Lauer (3-3, 4.40 ERA).
Marlins First 5 -105 at Diamondbacks: We also like the Marlins as short road dogs with Jesus Luzardo (2-2, 3.66 ERA) vs. Brandon Pfaadt (0-0, 13.50 ERA).
