Tennis best bets and predictions for ATP Toronto and WTA Montreal – Saturday, August 12th

The US Open is just about a month away, which means tennis season is really heating up. There will be a lot of big tournaments over the next couple of weeks, so VSiN is here to provide you with tennis best bets as often as possible. With that in mind, keep reading to get my picks for Saturday, August 12th. This week, the focus is on the National Bank Open in Toronto and Omnium National Bank in Montreal — two 1000-level events. I’ll look to make picks on both the men and the women, and I’ll probably be adding more to these columns each day. So, make sure you refresh for more picks — or click the link below for the Pro Picks page.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs. Alex De Minaur

The public will back De Minaur in this match, as the Australian just beat Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. But it’s hard to ignore what Davidovich Fokina has done this week, and I think he has the type of baseline power required to hit through De Minaur a bit. Davidovich Fokina also has a lot of speed himself, so De Minaur won’t be the only player here with a good set of wheels. It also needs to be noted that Davidovich Fokina is 2-0 against De Minaur at the ATP level. So, this is a matchup that he has enjoyed in the past, and I love playing it at plus-money odds.

Bet: Davidovich Fokina ML (+120 – 2 units)

Liudmila Samsonova vs. Elena Rybakina

Samsonova is one of the best players in the world on this specific type of hard court, so she’s in her element in Montreal this week. I love her all-around game and her ability to go big in key moments, and I think she’ll be extremely hungry for a spot in the final here. Samsonova also happens to be facing Rybakina, who had to play very late into last night. It’s actually the second time in a row that Rybakina played late, so there’s definitely a chance she’ll be a little fatigued here. Rybakina also happens to be playing some inconsistent tennis, so I don’t really trust her to begin with. I think Samsonova should be able to hold serve rather easily, and I see her getting deep into Rybakina’s service games, too.

Bet: Samsonova ML (-115 – 2.5 units)

ADDED PLAYS:

Tommy Paul +1.5 Sets (-135 – 2 units) vs. Jannik Sinner

QUICK NOTE: If you listened to my advice and played Iga Swiatek to win the tournament, you might want to consider hedging here. I’m going to let it ride because I’ve had a profitable tournament thus far, but the world No. 1 hasn’t played her best tennis this week. So, if you don’t fully trust her to win, lock in some profits now.
