Mutua Madrid Open best bets for Tuesday, April 30th
It feels like the tennis season never slows down, but that’s a great thing for bettors. This sport offers all sorts of betting opportunities, which is why I’m going to provide you with tennis best bets as often as possible. And that continues with a run of clay-court tournaments over the next couple of months. Over the next week, the biggest ATP and WTA tournaments are in Spain, as the top players in the world compete in a 1000-level event. The Mutua Madrid Open is one of the most exciting tournaments of the year, so make sure you tune in for some of the action. Below you’ll find some of my tennis best bets for Tuesday, April 30th.
I’d also strongly suggest coming back to this story throughout the day. I try to write up as many matches as I can in advance, but it’s hard to do that in an international sport. Rafael Nadal vs. Jiri Lehecka – Madrid
Rafael Nadal just earned a 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-3 win over Pedro Cachin, coming out on top in a battle that lasted three hours and six minutes. Nadal now has to find a way to rest and recover in 24 hours, and I have some doubts about whether or not he can do that. Since returning to action from a significant injury layoff, Nadal has had trouble in long, physical matches. Well, Nadal finally got through one, and I now think he’ll have issues getting his body right in one single day.
Nadal also barely earned a win over Cachin, who is a solid clay-court player but doesn’t possess a lot of weapons. So, it wasn’t the most inspiring win in the world, even if it was good to see Nadal digging deep again. But Lehecka possesses some serious all-court power, and he’s going to demand a lot of out of the Spaniard as a mover. Lehecka is going to try and move him from side to side, and the Czech has the ability to cover the court himself. So, he can extend some rallies and demand more out of Nadal. The Spaniard won’t simply be slapping winners.
I also think Lehecka’s ability to serve will be an issue for Nadal. The 22-time Grand Slam champion hasn’t been as reliable as usual with the ball on his racquet, but he has been able to overcome mediocre servers in Madrid. But Lehecka is pretty solid when it’s his turn to serve, so he can win this match by putting his head down and plowing through his service games. Then, he just needs to battle when Nadal is serving.
This is really just a fade spot for Nadal for me, but it helps that Lehecka is a dangerous ball striker.
