WNBA Best Bets:
Thankfully, there was college football on Thursday night, so we didn’t miss a beat with the WNBA off. Be sure to check out my CFB best bets for Week 1 of CFB in addition to our WNBA action, and NFL bets will start next week. We have a nice four-game slate of W action tonight, and I’ve got a few bets locked and loaded.

Here are tonight’s projections:
Dallas Wings vs. Minnesota Lynx
Minnesota is rolling right now. They’re beating teams and, more importantly, covering spreads. Meanwhile, Dallas is coming off a huge win over the Aces, which is probably more of an indictment on Vegas than a sign of hope for Dallas. Minnesota is a 7.5-point favorite on the road with an Over/Under of 171. TSI projects Minnesota -8.5 with a total of 177, so even though the total has been bet up a couple of points, I still like this Over because Minnesota has shown it can score with the best of them, and Dallas loves to turn basketball games into track meets.
WNBA Best Bet: Over 171 (Play to 172)
Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever
Reese vs Clark: need I say more? All eyeballs should be on this 7:30 ET matchup in what could all but cement Clark as the ROY. It could also provide enough narrative with a dominant Reese performance to continue the heated debate. As for the teams, Indiana is favored by 5 with an Over/Under of 166.5. Chicago is likely without guard Chennedy Carter again, and they have not been as good without her in the lineup. Indiana is playing as well as anyone in the league right now, fresh off a win vs contender Connecticut. TSI, though, projects Indiana -3 with the anticipated absence of Carter for Chicago, with a total of 170.5. I would love to have a bet on this game, but I just don’t think there’s enough certainty with Carter’s status and Chicago’s shaky play without her to justify a best bet. I’d lean Over but not strongly enough to make it a bet.
WNBA Best Bet: Lean Over 166.5
Las Vegas Aces vs. Atlanta Dream
What in the world is wrong with the Aces? It’s about time to hit the panic button on the champs. They lost to the Wings last game and are 2-8 ATS in their last 10. Atlanta has been much improved since the Olympic break after getting Rhyne Howard back. They are scrappy enough to make this a game if Vegas doesn’t get its (stuff) together ASAP. The Aces are 10.5-point favorites in light of news that Tina Charles is out for Atlanta, with an Over/Under of 165.5. TSI projects Vegas -5.5 with a total of 161.5. The market seems to like Vegas and the Over here, but TSI disagrees on both fronts, and I’ll make Atlanta a best bet.
WNBA Best Bet: Atlanta Dream +10.5 (Play to +9)
Seattle Storm vs. New York Liberty
Just when you think the Liberty have found fifth gear, they do something stupid like lose to the Sparks, who are pretty much terrible after dealing with a slew of injuries and illnesses this year. Seattle, meanwhile, is coming off a tight win against Atlanta and a loss to Washington, so both teams would love to get right in this one. The Liberty are 3-point road favorites with an Over/Under of 164 at DraftKings, and TSI agrees more with the opening line of Liberty -1.5 than it does the current 3, and projects a total of 158. Sparks game aside, the Liberty have turned into quite the “Under” team lately, and I’m going to roll with that again tonight.
WNBA Best Bet: Under 164 (Play to 163)
